Melanie Cox, LMFT, RPT

Hi, I’m Melanie. Or Mel. Either is fine.

I’m a big feeler, I always have been.
Like, when I see a dog doing something too cute, I’ll tear up. Or if I’m sad, all I want to do is listen to sad songs and stand in the rain. And when I’m angry, I want to make the whole world understand. (Anger is one of my favorite emotions; you’ll learn why quickly if we work together).
I feel like my full spectrum of emotional color is important to helping me enjoy living. I love food, good shows and movies, being in nature (riding bikes, hiking, kayaking rivers, going on walks, all of it!), and finding time to cuddle up and be cozy.

I also really, really care about people. It used to be because I was a people pleaser, but now I just love seeing a person reconnect with their true selves! My love of all good things combine to add humor, pop culture, and hopefully some fun mixed in with the hard, fulfilling change in therapy.
My 7 years of being a therapist and more than a decade of researching humans has helped me see how important it is to balance emotions, structure, curiosity, and compassion. If any of those pieces feel out of balance for you, I get it. And I bet we can work together to find a flow that fits better for you.
